About the ride
Embark on an unforgettable 7-day adventure on the Colorado Backcountry Discovery Route (BDR), covering over 1000 miles of scenic and challenging terrain. Starting from Berthoud, Colorado, the journey takes you through iconic landscapes, including Buffalo Pass to Steamboat Springs and the picturesque road along the Colorado River to Gypsum. Traverse the rugged Hagerman Pass to Buena Vista, and then experience the historic Tin Cup on your way to Lake City.
Continue through the charming town of Telluride and the stunning Ridgway before heading towards the Blue Mesa Reservoir and ending the day at Nathrop. This return leg traverses Boreas pass, Loveland Pass and routes up the Peak to Peak highway. The final leg of your journey includes a thrilling ride over Mount Evans, offering breathtaking views (pun intended). Ending the day back along a route on the scenic portion of the BDR bypass and connects along highway 50 and Marshal pass before returning to Berthoud. This tour provides a perfect mix of high mountain passes, scenic byways, and remote dirt roads, ensuring an adventure filled with diverse landscapes and unforgettable experiences.

All riders will gather in our hometown of Berthoud, CO, where the focus is on getting fully prepared for the ride. We provide accommodations for the night and make it a point to share a meal together, creating a relaxed atmosphere to get to know each other. This day is kept flexible to ensure we can accommodate everyone's needs—whether it’s logistical support or last-minute adjustments. No matter your situation, we're here to assist and ensure you're ready for the adventure ahead.

Departure arrangements vary for each rider, so we make sure to plan based on individual needs before the ride begins. While the cost of a hotel is not included in the tour price, we're happy to assist with booking accommodations if needed.

Each of our tours ensures a comfortable and memorable experience with destination-style lodging booked for every night. Depending on the group size and preferences, accommodations range from condos to single or double rooms. While we don’t provide food, we allocate ample time for you to enjoy local restaurants for breakfast and dinner. For lunch, riders are encouraged to purchase meals the day before or the morning of each ride, keeping them on hand for convenience. Our goal is to offer flexibility and comfort, allowing you to focus on the adventure ahead.
What will I need to bring?
A full set of riding gear including body armor is recommended but a helmet, eye protection, gloves and boots are required. Every ride has the possibility of bad weather ranging from sleet and hail to rain and wind. This ride includes time above 9,000 ft. Hydration is key so a 2-3 liter backpack style is best. An individual satellite emergency communications device is recommended and one is provided for the group.
